James William Barton

James William Barton, 59, of Middleport, Ohio, passed away on February 25, 2026, at Ohio Hospice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Born on September 13, 1966, in Ohio, James was the son of Floretta Barton and the late Harry Barton.

James is survived by his daughter, Maurica Shamblin; and his beloved granddaughters, Kiana, Victoria, and Hailie Shamblin. He is also survived by his mother, Floretta Barton.

He leaves behind his brothers, Harry L. Barton (Christie), Harley Barton, John Barton, Leroy Barton (Bridget), and Scott Barton (Melissa); his sisters, Edna Armes (Randy), Carlisa Tackett (Bill), and Terra Hart; and several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Adam Barton.

James will be remembered by his family and friends for his presence in their lives and the memories they shared together. His love for his family, especially his granddaughters, will always be cherished.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
