Hazel Irene Lewis, born July 8, 1941, went to be with our Lord surrounded by her loving family on March 2, 2026 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lawson; her mother, Tennie Lawson (Sturgeon); her sisters, Lois (Earl) Blevins and Joyce Ann (Charles) Ledford; her nephew, Darryl Ledford; and her grandson, Charlie Lewis.
Hazel is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband of 67 years, Bradford Lewis. They were married in 1959 and shared a beautiful life together.
She also leaves behind her children: Ron (Denise) Lewis of Patriot, Ohio; Jeff (Carol) Lewis of Pomeroy, Ohio; Mike (Vicki) Lewis of Middleport, Ohio; and Debbie Lewis (Meni Blevins) of Letart, Ohio.
Hazel was blessed with eight grandchildren: Robert Lewis-Muse; Tasha (James) Lewis; Shane (Amanda) Lewis; Christina Lewis (Justin Thomas); Jeffery Thomas Lewis (Cora); Cheyenna (Dustin) Harmon; Jessica Pooler (Justin Nelson); and Amber (Nathan) Cook.
She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Albright; Harlow Lewis; Hayden Jones; Haizlee Thomas; Makennah; Brycen Harmon; Braidyn; Raelyn Nelson; Dakota Cook; along with many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a couple of great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and, most of all, a friend to all who knew her. She was a proud woman who dearly loved her family. She was well known in the community for making chocolate gravy for her children’s friends when they would stay overnight—many would come just for that special treat. Hazel enjoyed cooking, canning, tending to her flowers, feeding her fish, and mowing her yard with her push mower.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, with Kevin Pitt officiating. Burial will follow at Vinton Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
