Robert "Rob" Abram Northup

Robert “Rob” Abram Northup, 38,  Cheshire, OH, passed away on December 23, 2020. He was a talented artist pursuing an art degree at The University of Rio Grande.  He also worked part-time in the art department at the college.
Rob had a soft spot for dogs and adored his beloved Sadie.  He also recently adopted a kitten he named Layka.  From an early age, he always enjoyed listening to music.  He was an avid OSU fan and movie lover.  He had a strong interest in genealogy and was a history buff.  Rob had a unique sense of humor and a philosophical heart.  He was often known to recount even the most random of trivia facts, keeping those around him in awe of his photographic memory.  While he enjoyed painting and sculpting, his passion was drawing.  He enjoyed sharing his love of art and music with his friends and family whom he loved very much, and his creative pieces will forever be treasured.  As his father would say of him, still waters run deep.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Gregory A. Northup, Gallipolis, OH; paternal grandparents, Ella and Harlan Northup, Gallipolis, OH; maternal grandparents, Charles and Kathryn (Kay) Shoots, Bellefontaine, OH; and his dearest Boston terrier, Sissy.
Rob is survived by his mother and step-father, Janet and Randy Snider, Pomeroy, OH; sister, Katie (Northup) Williams, brother-in-law, Chris Williams, nephews, Harlan and Sam Williams, San Diego, CA; uncle and aunt, Rob and Theresa Northup, Gallipolis, OH; and cousins, James, Zachary, and Jessica Northup; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins near and far.
Special thanks to all of those who encouraged and supported Rob throughout the years.  Colby and Amber Richards, thank you for always being by Rob’s side and showing him the true meaning of friendship.  Thank you cousin Annie King for being a mentor, friend, and one of Rob’s biggest fans.  Also, thank you to The University of Rio Grande professors and staff for recognizing and taking a chance on his talents.
Due to the current pandemic, the family has decided to have the memorial service in spring or summer 2021, or when it is safer to do so.
