Russell Lee Wood

On Thursday March 28th, 2024, at 04:10pm, Russell (Rusty) Lee Wood went to be with The Lord peacefully in his home after a long battle with cancer. Rusty was a 1965 graduate of Wahama High School. He retired from Ravenwood Constellium and WV Laborers. Russell is survived by his wife, Rhonda Kaylor Wood. They were a loving and devoted couple who were married for 55 years. He is the father of Ryan Lee Wood (Tracy). He has three amazing grandchildren who he highly adored: Alexandra, Bret, and Matthew. He has one brother, Donnie(Bonnie) (Raeni). He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Russell was preceded in death by his father (Donald), mother (Luella), and one niece. Russell was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He unconditionally loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. Rusty was loved by everyone who knew him and was an uplifting person in many peoples’ lives. He always made others laugh, was an outstanding cook, enjoyed golfing and spending time with his friends and family. He would do anything for others in a heartbeat. Rusty will be greatly missed. We would like to extend a special thank you to the James Cancer Center, Dr. Presley, and her amazing team of caring professionals. We would also like to extend a special gratitude to Dr. Wesley Lieving, Dr. Arumugam, and the professional staff at Rivers Health ER and ICCU. Also, we would like to thank the caring EMTs that were able to bring him home from the hospital before his passing. Graveside service, officiated by Pastor Patrice Weirick, will be held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Letart, West Virginia on Monday April 1st at 1:00 pm arranged by Anderson Family Funeral Home.
